Questions and Answers

Training Method ?

We use humane and effective training methods based on a scale of praise, motivation and correction.  Since no two dogs are alike this scale is adjusted to fit your dog's individual personality.  Our method relieves stress creates a positive and exciting learning environment!  All training programs are designed with your best friend's personality in mind so that he/she can learn at his/her own pace.

Will my dog listen to me after a residency training program?

YES!!  Once your dog is trained to obey commands, then ~ we train owners.   Through follow-up lessons owners will learn the necessary skills and understand how to handle their dog.  We are also available to answer your questions whenever you need help!  Remember - you, the owner - must change the way your dog behaves at home (not allowing old habits to continue, etc.) and you must remain consistent using the tools that have been given to you by the trainer.

Getting Started

All training starts on a Monday and ends on Friday or Saturday.  We can pick-up your dog at your home or you can deliver your dog to the King-Care Pet Center. There is no charge for a pick-up.  At the end of a resident program a "go home" lesson will be scheduled for you and your family.   "Go home" lessons last about an hour and best take place in your home. The entire family is invited to participate. This is where your work begins. This is where you will learn to relate to your pet in a way that he/she understands and  can respond to.

What age can we start training?

Puppy training begins the moment you bring your new puppy home. Puppy owners can influence and shape the behavior of their growing puppy whether or not you are enrolled in formal training. You, - the owner -are directing behavior and establishing patterns in your dog's behavior. By not teaching or not setting limits your puppy understands, you are establishing future behavior patterns.

Effective communication and consistency eliminates unwanted behavior issues and a properly socialized puppy makes a great companion.

We recommend beginning  dog training as early as possible, although dogs of all ages are able to learn. Most dogs are ready For formal training as early as 14-16 weeks of age. Our certified trainers will advise you as to whether or not your dog is ready for training.
